History¶
Brookview developed as part of Waco's mid-20th century southwestern expansion. As the city grew away from its historic downtown core, residential subdivisions filled in the area west of the Brazos River corridor, creating neighborhoods like Brookview. Most homes were built between 1940 and 1969, giving the neighborhood its characteristic postwar cottage and ranch-style architecture. A small creek runs through part of the neighborhood, contributing to its mature tree canopy and visual appeal.
The Brookview Neighborhood Association was formed to build connections between neighbors, local businesses, and civic entities.
