Notable Facts¶
- Lorena was settled in 1854 and named after Lorena Westbrook, daughter of one of the area's early settlers. The townsite was formally platted in 1881 when the Missouri, Kansas and Texas (MKT/Katy) Railroad was built through the area.
- Holly Tucker, country singer-songwriter from Lorena, reached the Top 6 on Season 4 of NBC's The Voice (2013) under coach Blake Shelton. She is a Lorena High School and Baylor University graduate, and has earned multiple Texas Country Music Association awards including Female Vocalist of the Year.
