Mountainview is home to two of the most historically significant congregations in the Waco area, including the oldest church in Waco and McLennan County. The neighborhood's religious landscape reflects its character as a well-established, community-oriented residential district.

Methodist

Seventh-Day Adventist

  • Denomination: Davidian Seventh-Day Adventist
  • Notes: The GADSDA is a lay reform movement that emerged from within the Seventh-day Adventist Church, founded by Victor T. Houteff in the 1930s. In 1935, the group established its Mount Carmel Center on 189 acres outside Waco. The GADSDA is a separate and distinct organization from the Branch Davidians — the group involved in the 1993 standoff near Waco. The GADSDA headquarters is connected to the Waco area and has a local presence.
